What is  BBL HERO?

Savalia Plastic Surgery is proud to introduce its latest addition: BBL, which stands for Broadband Light. This non-invasive gold standard treatment uses light energy to address issues like facial blood vessels, rosacea, brown spots, and acne-causing bacteria. Think of it as the Ferrari of laser treatments. “HERO” stands for High Energy Rapid Output, enabling treatments at 4x the speed, with 3x the peak power, and double the cooling. This results in quicker procedures with enhanced comfort, and the best part—no need for numbing. The treatment helps reverse damage from sun exposure and aging on areas such as the face, hands, chest, legs and neck, while also boosting collagen production and improving skin texture. BBL HERO can deliver noticeable improvements in just 1 to 3 sessions.

The BBL HERO Difference

BBL HERO is different from laser therapy, even though they might seem similar. Laser therapy delivers one wavelength of light to your skin, while BBL HERO delivers numerous wavelengths of light energy. As such, BBL HERO  delivers scattered wavelengths that penetrate the underlying layers of the skin (dermis) without damaging the superficial layer (epidermis). As such, the recovery is faster with fewer side effects.

The pigmented cells in your skin from scars, unwanted hair, and lesions absorb the light energy. The heat destroys the unwanted pigments, making your skin appear smooth and clear. Different wavelengths penetrate the skin at different depths and address different skin concerns. As such, BBL HERO is highly personalized to address your specific skin concerns.

Cutting-Edge BBL HERO

Newport Beach Center for Plastic Surgery uses the cutting-edge Cynosure Icon device for BBL HERO. The Cynosure Icon device has various modules and handpieces, each targeting different skin concerns.

The MaxG and MaxYs handpieces use intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. They deliver specialized pulses of light to the skin, targeting brown spots, sun damage, and veins. As the lesions absorb the energy, they are destroyed and filtered through the body’s natural healing process.

The Cynosure Icon is equipped with a state-of-the-art contact cooling system for instant comfort. Furthermore, the Skintel Melanin Reader measures your skin’s melanin density to optimize the treatment further. As such, the Cynosure Icon device allows us to provide the most customized and personalized treatments, ensuring optimal results and recovery.

The BBL HERO Experience

Your BBL treatment begins with an initial consultation with our aesthetic provider Jennay, RN. She will use our skin analysis system VISIA to analyze your skin concerns and discuss your goals to create a personalized treatment plan. Prior to starting, you’ll be given comfortable eye protection although you may still see harmless flashes of bright light. The BBL handheld device delivers quick bursts of high-intensity light in a rapid sequence. Patients report feeling a warm sensation, with some likening it to a “rubber-band snap.” You may experience increased discomfort in sensitive areas such as the upper lip. The length of your treatment will depend on the size of the area being treated, lasting anywhere from a few minutes to about half an hour. After the procedure, a medical grade post procedure safe sunscreen will be applied.

Results and Recovery

Your skin may appear pink and feel sunburned for 2-4 hours post-treatment. To relieve any discomfort from the sunburned feeling, you may use a cool compress for 10 minutes at a time. You might notice some pigmented spots darkening over the first 3 days, resembling coffee grounds. It’s important to resist the urge to pick at or scrub them, allowing them to flake off naturally. They should resolve within one to two weeks. You’ll be more sensitive to sunlight for 2 weeks after your treatment, so it’s crucial to apply your recommended medical grade post procedure safe sunscreen and avoid prolonged or excessive sun exposure for 4 weeks following the procedure. Additionally, bruising can occur after BroadBand Light treatments for vascular concerns. You may apply makeup right after if you so wish. Your skin tone will look more even and feel smoother within two weeks after your first treatment. Full results will typically be visible in 2 to 3 months, and some patients may need multiple treatments for the best outcomes.
