WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BREAST LIFT INCISIONS?

Anchor breast lift:

This is the most conventional type of breast lift, with the incision encircling the areola, running vertically down to the breast crease, and then horizontally, creating a shape that resembles an upside down T, or an anchor. This type of breast lift procedure is well suited to those with moderate to severe breast ptosis, as it affords the doctor the most ease in removing excess fat, tissue and skin.

Lollipop breast lift:

Here, an incision is made encircling the areola and then running downwards to the inframammary fold (breast crease), creating the shape of a favorite childhood sweet. The lollipop breast lift is ideal for those women with moderate breast sagging.

Donut breast lift:

During the donut breast lift, a small incision is made around the areola, creating the shape of a policeman’s favorite snack. Scarring is well hidden within the darker pigments of the nipples. Donut breast lifts are well suited for patients with only the mildest drooping in the breasts.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH A BREAST LIFT?

The breast lift technique Dr. Savalia uses will depend on your existing anatomy and the extent of surgical correction needed. In most cases, he will use a pattern that will result in a lollipop-like incision or an anchor-like incision on the breast. This incision goes around the areola and down to the breast crease (lollipop shape) and may extend within the breast crease (anchor shape) as well. Through the incision, Dr. Savalia can remove excess skin and move the nipple/areola to a higher position.

Women with relatively small breasts and minimal sagging may be candidates for modified procedures, such as the crescent or donut (Benelli) mastopexy techniques that require less extensive incisions. Dr. Savalia cautions that these techniques are limited to minor repositioning of the nipple rather than elevating the entire breast. If you are thinking about a breast lift, chances are high that a lollipop or an anchor incision will be necessary.

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE AFTER A BREAST LIFT IN NEWPORT BEACH?

Will a breast lift increase my cup size?

Patients must understand that while a breast lift comes with many benefits, there are also some limitations. The biggest benefit of a breast lift procedure is an improved profile, allowing the patient to experience more confidence.

Can I combine a breast lift with implants?

Many of Dr. Savalia’s patients choose to combine breast augmentation with their breast lift and combine the benefits of both procedures. What’s the difference between a breast lift and breast reduction?

Some skin and tissue may be removed during a breast lift as well, but the amount is much less substantial, as the focus is on lifting rather than reducing the breasts.

Will I have scars?
