WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

A Brazilian butt lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure to enhance and augment the buttocks without the use of implants. Liposuction is performed to sculpt and remove fat from donor areas, such as the flanks, hips, abdomen, or thighs. The harvested fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks to create fuller, rounder contours.

PROCEDURE TIMELINE

Before Surgery

Before your procedure, you’ll need to fill your prescriptions and ensure your environment is comfortable and relaxing. Make sure you purchase any items you might need, such as snacks, bottled water, extra pillows, or towels. A friend or family member will need to drive you home after your BBL in Newport Beach. Bear in mind that you may have to schedule transportation for several weeks, as you won’t be able to sit on your rear end. Dr. Savalia will review your current medications and let you know if any need to be discontinued. Lastly, make sure you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to take on and off on the day of your appointment.

During Surgery

A Brazilian butt lift is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and involves three basic steps: Fat is extracted using liposuction from the lower back, hips, abdomen, thighs, or other areas; the harvested fat is purified and prepared for transfer to the buttocks; and finally, Dr. Savalia strategically injects the fat into specific areas of the buttocks to increase volume and improve shape. As some of the harvested fat cells may not survive the transfer, Dr. Savalia may inject a slightly greater amount of fat than needed to ensure your final results achieve your goals.

After surgery

Immediately after surgery, you’ll experience some minor swelling, tenderness, and bruising at both the injection sites and the donor regions where liposuction was performed. Temporary numbness may also occur. Once home, you can take brief walks to help promote proper circulation. Take care not to put direct pressure on the buttocks by sleeping on your side or your stomach. Dr. Savalia will provide detailed instructions to follow carefully.

During the first week of recovery, Dr. Savalia may advise that you wear a compression garment to help minimize swelling and reduce fluid retention. This garment may also help mitigate lower body discomfort. During this time, you should utilize a booty pillow to keep pressure off of your rear end. Lymphatic massage can help enhance your outcome and reduce the formation of scar tissue. You’ll attend a follow-up visit with Dr. Savalia to ensure your healing remains on track.

What are the benefits of the procedure?

  • Enhances the shape, size, and projection of the buttocks
  • An excellent alternative to implants
  • Slims and sculpts the donor regions
  • Provides a more youthful, attractive physique
  • Revitalizes the figure after pregnancy, aging, or weight loss
  • Expands wardrobe options
  • Boosts self-confidence and self-image

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT (BBL)?

A BBL can be a great alternative to implants because it uses your own natural fat to improve the shape and size of the buttocks. This procedure has the added benefit of slimming and contouring the areas from which fat is harvested, to create a curvier profile.

You may be a candidate for a Brazilian butt lift if you:

  • Want to enhance your buttocks without implants
  • Have good skin tone in the buttocks and hips
  • Have adequate fat stores that can be harvested from other areas of the body and injected into the buttocks
  • Are willing and able to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for several weeks

Can a Brazilian butt lift be combined with other procedures?

Absolutely! A BBL is often paired with a mommy makeover, tummy tuck, thigh lift, liposuction, or breast surgery to comprehensively rewind the clock on aging and provide the patient with a more youthful, proportionate figure. If you are interested in other cosmetic procedures, don’t hesitate to discuss them with Dr. Savalia during your private consultation.

What is recovery like after a Brazilian butt lift?

The most important thing to know about your recovery is that you will not be allowed to sit or lie directly on your buttocks for approximately two weeks after surgery. You will sleep on your side or your stomach, and either stand or lie this way for all activities (except using the toilet). Pain is minimal and easily controlled with medications. When you are ready for sitting, it will be in a modified position, using a “donut” or placing a pillow under your thighs to avoid pressure on the buttocks. You should be able to sit normally after about eight weeks.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs

How long do results last with a Brazilian butt lift?

The results of this procedure are meant to be long-lasting. Fat cells removed from donor sites are gone from those areas for good. Fat cells that survive the transfer to the buttocks will continue functioning as fat cells in their new location for years to come.

How much downtime is required with a Brazilian butt lift?

You should be able to resume light activities within one week after a Brazilian butt lift. Most people can return to work within 10 to 14 days after surgery. However, it is important to follow Dr. Savalia’s instructions and avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for the recommended time.

What are the benefits of Brazilian butt lift as compared to implants?

Brazilian butt lift has a low risk of complications. Using your body’s own fat, this procedure can achieve results that look and feel natural.
